Features
Guard Bags are popular soft cases that are lightweight yet offer a certain level of security. When they first went on sale, models with an all-black design were the mainstream, but the ELITE series, launched in recent years, has gained significant popularity. This series comes in two types—nylon and leather—and is characterized by its two-tone design featuring light brown leather.This model is made from “Cordura Ballistic Nylon,” a material commonly used in outdoor gear that is several times more durable than standard nylon.
The biggest appeal of this case is its ability to accommodate instruments with large bell diameters and wide bores, such as Van Laar and Courtois models. Even the Nakaryakov model—which has the largest bell diameter among flugelhorns (190 mm)—fits, though it’s a bit of a tight squeeze.
While this case is by no means compact, it’s surely excellent news for those who previously had to carry their instrument in two separate cases. Another key feature is the ability to store mutes in the gaps and fit plenty of sheet music in the pockets.
