It is estimated that only about 300 to 400 units were produced during the short original production period around 1981-1982. Although it was reissued once in 2011-2012, production quickly ceased, and it has now become a truly "legendary" model in the used market.
This particular model is a 1981 edition with a black body and black pickguard.
Although it has a 30.5-inch short scale, the effect of the loose string tension is not very noticeable, perhaps due to the angled headstock.
While possessing a unique looseness and fullness in the low to mid-range frequencies, it also has a firm attack, so the sound's contours are clearly audible.
Playing with your fingers on the front pickup will give you a fat sound, while picking with a pick and focusing slightly on the rear pickup will produce a gritty, masculine sound.
