Slight scratches and small scuffs are visible throughout. No plating loss or dents. The instrument has been cleaned internally, the reed has been replaced, and all necessary adjustments and maintenance have been performed.

[Features] Commonly known as the “Canstal Besson,” this is a reissue by the prestigious American company Canstal of the historic “MEHA” model originally crafted by
Fontaine Besson.

Constal inherited design and manufacturing know-how from Fontaine Besson—including the bell mandrel—and began producing this reissue model in the 1980s. Rather than simply mimicking the original’s appearance, this model faithfully recreates the proportions and design philosophy of the original MEHA using modern manufacturing techniques, earning high acclaim under the name “Constal-Besson.”

The sound features a bright, resonant, and lustrous tone that conveys the sensation of the bell itself vibrating—what is known as “bell resonance.” The articulation is clear, with a pleasant edge to the attack, while also possessing a rich, lustrous quality filled with harmonics. From classical styles to big band, it delivers a strong, distinctive trumpet presence.

Kanstal is now defunct, so it is no longer possible to purchase this model New. It is a historically fascinating instrument that represents the intersection of the French Besson MEHA lineage and Kanstal’s craftsmanship.
