This is a Distortion Plus manufactured around 1980!
At the time, it was considered revolutionary, featuring an unprecedentedly compact yet durable die-cast case and dramatically extended battery life, making it a truly outstanding product, typical of MXR. The simple drive and level controls worked with any amp or guitar, and its sound, which allowed for easy picking nuances, was initially welcomed by fusion musicians rather than rock musicians. Turning down the guitar's volume also produced a warm, edgy distortion. The slightly fuzzy, rough, and dry distortion characteristic of the 1970s hard rock sound is particularly noteworthy, and it's said that Randy Rhoads was also seeking that sound. The exterior also differed from previous and current models, featuring a roughened surface. Another distinctive feature of this model was the emphasis on bass compared to current models, giving the sound a warmer feel. Furthermore, the distortion level responded well to the guitar's volume, allowing it to be used in the same way as if it were plugged directly into an amp.
