Clear, rich, fast, and lightweight—the Sadowsky NYC Deluxe Satin 4-String!
Roger Sadowsky opened his shop in New York in 1979. He has performed repairs and customizations for numerous musicians, including Marcus Miller and Will Lee, and has now established himself as a high-end guitar manufacturer.
The Deluxe Satin series, which maintained NYC quality while keeping costs down, is now discontinued, making it quite rare in Japan.
This model features a flamed maple top, an alder back, and a Morado (perfolo) fingerboard. The body features Sadowsky’s signature chambered construction and weighs a lightweight 3.5 kg.
Controls include volume, pickup balancer, tone, and a two-band EQ (boost) with treble/Bass. Pulling the tone knob switches the pickup to passive mode.
It combines a clear, direct tone with the rich resonance provided by the chambered construction. Yet, the response is extremely fast, and the playing feel—which directly translates the player’s touch into sound—fully embodies the essence of Sadowsky NYC.
The EQ excels in its low-end response; it is designed to deliver a well-defined low end while suppressing any boomy quality, even when boosted. This is a highly practical and well-crafted pickup capable of handling a wide range of sounds, from subtle nuances to aggressive boost tones.
