Explanation
Martin / 2011 model 000-42 ECJM
In 1992, following their memorable performance on "MTV Unplugged," Martin has released numerous Eric Clapton signature models over the years. Next year will mark the 30th anniversary of its announcement. Even now, the 000-28EC is still sold as a regular item, It has become one of the most beloved series in Japan. With Eric Clapton's visit to Japan scheduled for 2025, this passion will undoubtedly continue to be passed down through generations.
The "000-42 ECJM," which we're introducing today, is a guitar that could be said to have been born precisely because of its enduring popularity in Japan and the love of its many fans. Apparently, "ECJM" stands for "Eric Clapton Signature Model / Japan Edition / Madagascar Rosewood Sides and Back," and it is a special instrument with a limited production run of only 100 units, crafted with meticulous attention to the wood used.
The 000-42 is the model (made in 1939) that Clapton used on "MTV Unplugged," and it was also his signature model first released in 1995.
In keeping with the 1939 model, it features a wide 44.5mm nut width neck (soft V-shape), scalloped X-bracing, Adirondack spruce, long saddle, tortoiseshell pickguard, and mosaic backstrip. And we mustn't forget the old-style headstock logo. While the Style-42 features a so-called "vertical logo" that makes lavish use of abalone, this model, which follows the design of the golden era of the 1930s, has a simple decal logo. Its simplicity, combined with its persuasive power and elegance, is sure to capture the hearts of not only Clapton but also anyone who loves Martin guitars.
The Brazilian rosewood used in pre-war Martin guitars has been replaced with rosewood from Madagascar, a country with a climate similar to Brazil. However, the powerful presence with its understated black lines gives it a vintage feel that is truly captivating.
A truly exceptional product that speaks volumes on its own.
