Explanation
Gibson / 1956~1958 CF-100
The CF-100 was Gibson's first cutaway model, which appeared in the 1950s. A year later, in 1951, the CF-100E, equipped with a P-90 pickup, was added to the lineup. However, the production period for the CF-100 was short, from 1950 to 1958, and for the CF-100E, from 1951 to 1959, meaning both were produced for only about eight years.
The body is made of spruce for the top, mahogany for the sides and back, and Brazilian rosewood for the fingerboard. The body size is small, like the L series, making it easy to hold and play. Wouldn't you say the most distinctive feature of the CF-100 is its Florentine-style cutaway? This makes it easier to access higher positions, and it's a versatile instrument that excels in playing techniques other than chords.
The serial number on this model has faded over time, making it difficult to determine the exact year of manufacture. However, the presence of non-scalloped bracing suggests that it was manufactured between 1956 and 1958. Despite its small body, the crisp, tight highs and the rich, lingering lows are not solely due to the cutaway or bracing, but rather to the unique tone that can only be produced by a guitar that has been played extensively.
There are several cracks on the body top, but they have been properly repaired with reinforcement plates, so you can continue to play it with peace of mind.
