Gibson / 1956–1958 CF-100
The CF-100 debuted in the 1950s as Gibson’s first cutaway model. A year later, in 1951, the CF-100E—equipped with P-90 pickups—was added to the lineup. However, the production periods were relatively short: 1950–1958 for the CF-100 and 1951–1959 for the CF-100E, with both models produced for only about eight years.
The body is constructed with a spruce top, mahogany sides and back, and a rosewood fingerboard. The body size is small, similar to the L Series, making it easy to hold and providing an optimal playing experience. The most distinctive feature of the CF-100 is surely its Florentine-style cutaway, which facilitates easy access to the higher frets and makes this guitar versatile for playing techniques beyond just chords.
Although the serial number on this model has faded over time, making it impossible to determine the exact year of manufacture, the presence of non-scalloped bracing suggests it was built between 1956 and 1958. Despite its small body, the guitar boasts a crisp, well-defined midrange and a rich, resonant low end. I believe this unique tone—which isn’t solely due to the cutaway or bracing—is the result of a guitar that has been played extensively over the years.
Although there are several cracks visible on the top, the guitar has been professionally repaired with a reinforcement plate, so you can continue to play it with confidence.

[Condition] —While there are scratches from extensive use and weather checking throughout, the instrument exudes a charm unique to vintage instruments. - String action at the 12th fret: 3.0 mm on the 6th string side, 2.0 mm on the 1st string side - Saddle projection: approx. 2.0 mm to 3.5 mm - There is a history of crack repairs: one on the left side of the fingerboard between the 14th and 20th frets, one at the top of the soundboard, one at the bottom right of the soundhole, one at the bottom left of the soundhole, five under the bridge, one at the bottom left of the top, and two at the bottom left of the back. - There are signs that the top surface of the bridge has been slightly sanded down. - The nut, saddle, and frets have been replaced. - The tuning pegs have been replaced (KLUSON DELUX) . *Original tuners included (single-line KLUSON DELUX 3-in-1 tuner included).
