This is the legendary analog chorus pedal—the very first model from the "BOSS" brand—which continues to enjoy immense popularity!!
This model was the first in the series, released by Roland under the BOSS brand in 1976 as model Effector. In a nutshell, it produces a very warm and rich chorus sound. It features not only chorus but also a vibrato mode, allowing you to create everything from a gentle, subtle tremolo to a flashy, psychedelic-style tremolo sound. It also supports stereo output, allowing you to create an even more expansive soundstage, and the input level controls (High, Low) make it compatible with instruments other than guitar.Another distinctive feature of this model is the low-pass filter on the delay line output. While this is also a popular model, it differs slightly from the CE-2. The CE-1’s BBD operates at a lower clock frequency, so the cutoff frequency of the low-pass filter is set lower as well, resulting in a mild chorus effect with reduced high frequencies. It is precisely because this model possesses a sound that can only be produced by it that it can truly be called a “classic.”
