—For humidity control of your precious instruments
A musical instrument’s biggest enemies are humidity and dryness.
During the summer, when humidity is high, and the fall, when the air is dry, the condition of your instrument is prone to fluctuate.
・What happens when humidity rises?
When stringed instruments such as guitars, violins, and cellos absorb moisture, the body may swell, and the bracing—which is used to adjust the tone and reinforce the interior of the body—may come loose.
Additionally, as the neck expands, it may warp.
・What happens when it gets too dry?
As moisture is drawn out of the wood, it begins to shrink.
This can cause the decorative binding wrapped around the outside to peel off, the body panels to crack, or the fingerboard to shrink, causing the frets to protrude.
That said, it would be a shame to become so preoccupied with humidity and dryness control that you end up installing elaborate equipment or lose the joy of playing your instrument.
That’s where Boveda humidity control packs come in handy.
While silica gel—like the kind found in packages of snacks—is designed to keep snacks from getting stale, Boveda’s saturated packs, made from pure water and natural salt, are designed to maintain an optimal humidity level of 49%.
It releases just the right amount of moisture when the air is dry and absorbs excess moisture when humidity is high, maintaining a constant 49% humidity level.
It’s very easy to use.
This set includes three Boveda 49% RH packs and dedicated holders (single and double) to store them. Simply place the packs in the holders and put them inside your instrument case!
*We recommend placing the single pack near the head of the case and the double pack near the sound hole.
This will protect your precious instrument, so why not give it a try for everyday storage?
