[Features & Appeal]
The Besson BE784-2 is a traditional top-action E♭ bass. Known affectionately in Japan as the "vertical bass," this style is a staple that has long supported the bass section in British brass bands and other brass ensembles.
Although this instrument features a 4-valve configuration, the absence of a compensating system results in a relatively light playing feel, making it easy to handle in terms of both weight and maneuverability. It accepts air easily and responds smoothly, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a light, agile playing experience that isn’t overly heavy.
The sound produced by the large 483mm bell is bright and clear. While providing solid support in the low register, the sound retains its definition and stands out easily within an ensemble.
It is recommended not only for brass bands but also for those seeking an easy-to-play E♭ tuba. Since this model is no longer in production, if you are looking for a top-action E♭ bass tuba with the signature Besson sound, please take this opportunity to consider it.
