The Classic American Deluxe Sound, Born from the PH Layout!
The American Deluxe series was launched in 1998. While preserving the classic Fender sound, it incorporates components suited to the modern music scene and pursues “sound, quality, and specs,” resulting in a practical and modern series with specifications that are a step above those of standard models.
This 2005 model features a P-type pickup in the front and a humbucker-type pickup in the rear. This is the so-called “early generation” specification, predating the transition to the later PJ layout.
The sound is modern and high-output. It delivers the rich, well-balanced tone characteristic of a rear humbucker, while also producing a sound with clear definition and excellent projection.In addition to the characteristic power of the front Precision pickup, blending in the rear pickup brings the midrange to the forefront, creating a tone with a strong presence. Since subsequent models were changed to the PJ configuration, there are quite a few players who prefer the unique sound of this PH layout. Its high versatility, suitable for a wide range of genres—including rock and pop—is another major appeal of this guitar!
