Fender / American Acoustasonic Stratocaster
A brand-new acoustic guitar developed by Fender, the leading brand in electric guitars!!
Featuring a hollow body with mahogany sides and back and a spruce top, combined with a bolt-on neck that’s quintessentially Fender, this model delivers a playing experience that’s a blend of acoustic and electric guitars!!
At the heart of its sound is a proprietary acoustic engine developed in collaboration with Fishman.
Tim Shaw—currently with Fender, who was also involved in the development of Gibson pickups in the 1970s and ’80s—contributed to this project. In addition to the humbucker-style pickup, the guitar features a piezo pickup and a pickup built into the body, allowing you to create a wide variety of sounds using these three types of pickups.
Here’s how to use the controls!
The selector switch lets you choose simulated sounds or switch between pickups.
The positions are numbered from 5 to 1, starting from the very front. (Please refer to the table below.)
Additionally, turning the knob located where the standard tone knob would be acts like a blender: when turned fully
counterclockwise, it’s set to “A,” and as you turn it clockwise from there, the “B” sound is gradually blended in.
Position 5 (Selector Switch)
A: Rosewood / Dreadnought
B: Mahogany / Slope Shoulder
Position 4
A: Mahogany / Jumbo
B: All Mahogany / Small Body
Position 3
: A: Rosewood / Auditorium
; B: Body Sensor Pickup
Position
2: A: Lo-Fi / Piezo
; B: Lo-Fi / Piezo + Crunch
Position
1: A: Fender Electric Fat / Semi-Clean
; B: Fender Overdriven Electric
You can choose from a total of 10 different tones. At first, you might think there are too many
options to keep track of, but since there are very few
switches and knobs, once you understand the basic settings, you can intuitively shape your sound from there!!
My first impression upon holding it was,
“Ah, it’s a Fender neck”—it’s a familiar neck that feels very much like an electric guitar.
However, since this model is tuned with acoustic guitar strings, it does have a unique feel that you won’t find on an electric guitar.
The condition of the neck and woodwork has been inspected and adjusted by a specialist in acoustic guitars, and every part is in excellent condition.
The neck has been straightened, so there’s no buzzing or muffled sound, and the string action at the 12th fret is set to optimal levels: approximately 1.7 mm on the 6th string and 1.5 mm on the 1st string.
With its wide range of tonal possibilities and design focused on ease of use on stage, it’s no wonder professional musicians rely on this model.
Be sure to take this opportunity to try it out!!
