Explanation
The legendary Alembic Japan, produced for only a brief period in the late ’80s!
Alembic is a brand often referred to as the “pioneer of high-end Bass,” known for being a favorite of Stanley Clarke. Alembic Japan, on the other hand , was a unique Japanese brand launched by the domestic importer at the time after obtaining a license, offering original models distinct from the parent brand. Since it was manufactured for only a brief period in the late 1980s and the production run was extremely limited, these instruments are extremely rare on the current used market.
This instrument is a fretless version of the AJ-II-JB, equipped with JJ-type pickups. The top is made of tiger-stripe maple with a distinct grain pattern, while the back Recruit mahogany. The fingerboard is ebony. It features Alembic pickups, which deliver a powerful sound. The controls consist of front volume, rear volume, and a filter control, and it is an active model.
With its compact body and beautiful, violin-like design, this is a truly captivating instrument. True to the J/J configuration, it delivers a sound with well-defined contours. Combined with its powerful output, it produces a fretless sound that is crisp and well-defined while retaining the warmth of the mahogany body. The filter control also allows you to dial in a sound that’s as warm as you’d like.
