This is an extreme octave fuzz pedal released around the late 1960s, featuring a tone selector that allows you to switch between a bass-heavy, scooped sound and a slightly quirky sound with emphasized high-mids! Dead stock/display item!!
The controls consist of a "VOLUME" knob that also acts as the power switch, a "FUZZ ADJ." knob to adjust the distortion, a tone selector footswitch, and a bypass footswitch. Even with the "FUZZ ADJ." knob at its minimum setting, there's a fair amount of distortion, and as you increase it, the distortion grows while harmonics begin to emerge. The characteristic buzzing and humming distortion of Japanese fuzz pedals is complemented by a melancholic upper octave, resulting in a rich and deep sound. When playing chords, the sound can be a bit compressed, but in return, it has a very forceful and powerful sound that really makes its presence known. The scooped midrange sound, switchable with the tone selector, produces an astonishingly metallic tone. This is a truly superb unit, a masterpiece of Japanese fuzz pedals!
This item is an original deadstock/display item that was unearthed from the warehouse of a musical instrument store in Jakarta, Indonesia, after more than 50 years! As a display item, it still has the original price tag (for some reason the model name is incorrectly written as "FN-2"!) and the sticker of the retailer "Irama Megah" attached, making it a historically valuable piece. There is some wear and tear, such as tape on the surface plate and some tarnishing of the paint surface overall, but it comes with the valuable original box (see image) and cable.
