Providence's PP Bass!
Supervised by guitar technician Shimizu Shōzō, who enjoys tremendous support from numerous professional musicians, and crafted in domestic workshops, Providence guitars embody the universal "correctness" of musical instruments and contemporary design as their core concept.
This model features an alder body, rosewood fingerboard, and traditional PB-style body shape. The front pickup is a powerful split-coil P-type, while the rear pickup is a straight-coil P-type used in original precision Basss. It's a Bass that's neither J nor P – it's a "PP-type".
Pushing/pulling the tone knob switches between active and passive modes. However, instead of a typical active circuit with EQ, it incorporates the Providence VZ-B1 (Active Impedance Converter). This converts high-impedance signals to low-impedance signals, enabling output with superior signal integrity and low noise. You can feel its ease of use as a "tool" that lets you play without worrying about noise, while preserving the natural tone of the passive mode (high-impedance signal).
The combination of the front pickup's robust presence and the rear pickup's added contour creates a sound that's not overly raw, resulting in a highly usable tonal character!
