Martin / 2023 CTM D-45 "The68"
The Martin D-45 debuted as a standard model in 1938.
As Martin’s flagship model, it captivates countless artists and acoustic guitar enthusiasts with its beauty and a rich, expansive tone reminiscent of playing a grand piano; it remains beloved to this day as a timeless object of desire.
In 1942, production of the D-45 was unfortunately discontinued due to material shortages caused by World War II, but in 1968, led by Mike Longworth, production of the D-45 resumed.
This instrument is a reissue of a D-45 from the historic era when production was resumed.
— The sides and
back feature Guatemalan rosewood with a beautiful striped pattern reminiscent of Brazilian rosewood’s fine grain. Its
brilliant tone is said to be similar to that of Brazilian rosewood, and it is used as a substitute in high-end models.
The center strip features multicolored lines that add a touch of elegance.

— The
top is crafted from spruce with a fine-grained figure. In addition to the
vintage white binding, pearl rings made of abalone shell shimmer beautifully.
The rosette is also adorned with luxurious abalone shell inlays.

—Fingerboard: The ebony
fingerboard features gleaming mother-of-pearl hexagonal inlays.
In fact, depending on the production year, models may feature either abalone shell or mother-of-pearl inlays, and the ability to enjoy these varied aesthetics is one of the D-45’s charms.

—Neck: Crafted from select hardwood
, the neck features a slim profile that ensures a comfortable playing experience.

—The ebony
Downberry bridge features beautiful streaks and is fitted with a short saddle and white bridge pins.

—The headstock, made of Guatemalan rosewood
veneer, features a vertical Avalon shell logo. Many guitarists have long admired Martin models featuring
this logo.

—The
tuning machines are GROVER 102G, faithfully reproducing the specifications of the era.
