Explanation
Martin / 2021 HD12-28
[Demo Video]
A 12-string version of the HD-28 featuring herringbone trim. The D12-28 debuted in 1972, and the 12-string sound featured in "Hotel California"—played by Glenn Frey of the Eagles—had a profound influence on many artists and acoustic guitar players.
—The 12-string style that creates a chorus-like sound The string configuration, which combines octaves and unison, delivers a rich, resonant tone that sounds just like a chorus effect. This tone can only be experienced on a 12-string!
—Special Headstock Shape While the total length of a 6-string headstock is approximately 16 cm, this model is 3.5 cm longer at approximately 19.5 cm to accommodate the 12 tuning pegs. Additionally, while the headstock thickness on the HD-28 is approximately 1.4 cm, this model measures approximately 1.5 cm.
—12-String Style Fingerboard The ebony fingerboard features square diamond inlays, giving it the elegance of a pre-war model. The nut width is generously sized at 46mm, allowing for smooth fingering.
- Top with Herringbone Trim The 16-inch body top is made of spruce and features white binding along with herringbone trim. The rosette is adorned with decorative multi-stripe lines.
- Sides/Back Straight-grained Indian rosewood is used, with a zigzag pattern Recruit on the center strip. Combined with the top’s decoration, it evokes the look of the golden age.
—Bridge The ebony Downberry bridge is fitted with a short saddle, and white bridge pins are mounted on the top and bottom. A wider bridge plate is used to withstand the tension of the 12 strings.
—Neck The neck is crafted from select hardwood and features a soft V-shape profile. The slim profile supports a comfortable grip.
—Tuning Machines The tuners feature independent Schaller M6 tuners for each string.

The sparkling, luxurious tone combines with the deep richness of the rosewood to envelop you in an incredibly pleasant sound! It’s a one-of-a-kind sound you simply can’t experience with a 6-string.
