Taylor / 2013 718e First Edition
[Staff Comment: Mochizuki]

Whether you want to produce a big sound or convey subtle nuances,
Every player knows how difficult it is to achieve both.
Even if you want to use a wide dynamic range, large-bodied guitars excel at power but often lack the responsiveness needed to reproduce subtle touches.
On the other hand, models specialized in delicacy often leave you wanting more in terms of scale and projection.
I imagine it’s often the case that, to resolve this contradiction, you end up choosing to “sacrifice one or the other.”
But think back to the moment you stood on stage and played your first note.
Whether in a large hall or on a bench in a small park, haven’t you ever wished that “the sound I produce would reach the person right in front of me”?
Furthermore, you surely wished to convey your own unique nuances and emotional nuances within that sound.
There is a guitar that responds directly to that desire.
In 2013, Taylor introduced the Grand Orchestra—a new large-sized model that is neither a traditional jumbo nor a dreadnought.
The 718e First Edition is the landmark model that marked that first step.

The greatest appeal of this guitar is that it achieves both “loud volume” and “delicacy” at the same time.
When strummed, it produces a rich, resonant tone that fills an entire hall, yet when fingerpicked, it responds to even the slightest pluck, delivering a crystal-clear expression down to the finest detail. It feels as if two guitars have merged into one.
That experience is the true value of the 718e.
Extraordinary care has also been taken with the materials.
The top is made of Sitka spruce, which offers an excellent balance of responsiveness and durability.
The back and sides are crafted from AA-grade Indian rosewood, which brings rich harmonics and depth to the low end.

Adirondack spruce is used for the bracing, highlighting the speed and power of the sound’s attack.
The neck is crafted from tropical mahogany, while the fingerboard and bridge are made of ebony, allowing you to experience Taylor’s signature precision craftsmanship and smooth playability.
When amplified, the early-model Expression System (ES1) delivers a natural, airy sound.
It achieves a perfect balance of overwhelming scale and delicacy.
Whether on stage or in the studio, the 718e will add reliability to your music.
