Martin Custom Shop / 2013 D-42 Anaheim Madagascar Rosewood
This Custom Shop D-42 is made of premium Adirondack spruce and Madagascar rosewood.
This special model was introduced at the 2012 Winter NAMM in California, and was produced in small numbers and received favorable reviews.
The adirondack spruce on the body top has a wide grain that gives it a floating, powerful appearance. You can even feel its unevenness when you actually touch it. The paint finish, so thin and beautiful, is the essence of Nazareth's expert craftsmanship. The Madagascar rosewood on the side backs also has a tight and elegant appearance.
The D-42 with this wood combination is rarely seen in the current market, and for reference, the D-42 Modern Deluxe in spruce/Indian rosewood is priced at 1,342,000 yen, while the CTM D-45 in Adirondack spruce/Madagascar rosewood is priced at {{1813582 1813582}}}At 2,400,000 yen, the CTM D-45 in Adirondack spruce/Madagascar rosewood would be very expensive to make now, even though it is a D-42.
The binding is made of koa, which is also a rare material, and all these woods and decorations are well balanced and harmonized to create a beautiful figure, which I think is the great thing about this piece.
The sound is also superb. In addition to Martin's characteristic sparkling sound, the high mid rises up to the front, and the tone is comfortable with a sense of openness and separation. Each note resonates clearly, but even with strong picking, there is no sagging, and the tone is powerful without losing its elegance.
The tone is lush and rich even when played fingerstyle, and even when played low, the sound is full and clean, making it easy to add dynamics, and I imagine it can be used in a wide range of genres as a recording device.
"Good to play, good to look at." While it has a collectible aspect, it is one of the finest that can be used quite practically.
[Condition.] - It is in close to New condition with only a few scratches and scuffs. - String height at the 12th fret: 2.5mm on the 6th string, 2.0mm on the 1st string. - Saddle protrusion: approx. 3mm - 3.5mm - No cracks or crack repairs.
