125th Anniversary Model! A reproduction of Paul McCartney's iconic '61 500/1!
Hofner was established in 1887. The 125th Anniversary Vintage 61 Cavern was released as an anniversary model in 2012, the company's 125th anniversary.
The name "Cavern" comes from a small club in Liverpool, England called the Cavern Club, which led the European rock and roll scene in the 1960s, and The Beatles played there in their early days.
This model is a faithful reproduction of the 1961 500/1 used by Paul McCartney.
It has a flat back body and a very fat grip neck. The two pickups mounted near the front are decorated with a diamond logo, the head has a vertical logo, and the pegs are in the shape of rugby balls.
The lightweight hollowbody produces a warm and soft sound. The rear pickup is close to the front pickup, so even when only the rear pickup is output, it does not lose its fatness, and the bass sound supports the band sound well.
It goes without saying that it is compatible with pick playing like Paul's, but even with fingerpicking, it has a core sound that is not just strong bass, and it is one that can produce the delicious parts of a violin bass!
