A versatile 5-string bass!
Founded in 1996 in the United States by Hiro Miura, the Xotic brand has earned high acclaim from numerous professional musicians thanks to its precision-crafted custom instruments.
The XP series is designed in a workshop in Los Angeles, USA, and manufactured in Japan. This model features the old logo and is believed to be an early production unit with a serial number in the 30s.
While the XP series is based on a Fender-like traditional sound, its defining characteristic is not a punchy, gritty tone, but rather a flat, clean sound. The EQ has a gentle response and lacks the harsh, flashy tone often found in modern Bass models, delivering a clean sound that stays true to its "traditional" character. Compared to a Jazz Bass, it has a fuller sound and retains the characteristic of a Precision Bass—delivering rich low-end from the low B string—yet it’s free of any harshness. It’s a highly versatile instrument that, in a good way, makes you wonder, “Is this really a Precision Bass?”
