Gibson / 2008 J-185
Compared to the J-200 with its 17-inch body, the J-185 features a slightly smaller 16-inch body.
While its finish is simple, it possesses a presence befitting the "King of Flat-Tops" and a charm that rivals that of the J-200 Natural.
—Easy-to-hold 16-inch body
The top of the body, which is 1 inch (approx. 25.4 mm) smaller than that of the J-200, is crafted from fine-grained spruce.

The pickguard is a large, unadorned tortoiseshell-patterned pickguard (Recruit).

The sides and back are crafted from maple with a beautiful figured grain.
The back strip is not included.

The fingerboard is made of rosewood and features double parallelogram inlays.
This inlay is often found on high-end models in series such as the Southern Jumbo, Hummingbird, and Dove, confirming that this model is also a high-end instrument.

The neck is a one-piece mahogany neck with a slim profile, providing a comfortable grip and playing experience.
The specifications are well-balanced with the body.

The upper belly bridge is made of rosewood and features a short saddle.
Its simple yet stylish appearance remains intact.

The headstock features Gibson’s modern logo, along with a crown inlay.
The bell-shaped truss rod cover is a two-piece design.

It is equipped with Grover 102C tuning machines.
While they are heavier than KULUSON, they offer smooth operation and stable tuning.
Another key feature is the ability to adjust the torque using the Phillips-head screw on top of the tuning peg.

This model is equipped with an L.R. Baggs Element.
With only a volume control, it’s simple yet effective for live performances and other stage settings.

This is a highly recommended model for those who want a Gibson jumbo-sized guitar but find them too large, or for those who admire jumbo bodies but are put off by the price.
Its bold sound, distinct from that of round-shoulder or square-shoulder models, is a unique charm of this guitar.
Please give it a try.
