Explanation
Martin / 2006 000C-28 Andy Summers
[Demo Video]
This guitar was released by Martin as the signature model of Andy Summers, the guitarist for the American rock band "The Police." It’s packed with unique features, so let’s take a closer look.
—Fine-grained Top Wood This 000-sized model features Alpine spruce. Sourced from the Alps in northern Italy, this wood is a rare material used in high-end guitars. Its fine-grained grain is eye-catching. The top is also finished with an aging toner.
ーCutaway One of the defining features of this instrument is the cutaway. This allows Andy to play in the higher positions, and it may be a reflection of his unique dedication to being able to play everything—from chords to melodies—on this single instrument.
—Top Decoration The celluloid inlays feature a chevron-checker pattern, and the rosette surrounding the soundhole is adorned with white and black celluloid inlays, as well as a herringbone pattern.
— Sides/Back Indian rosewood is used, and the center strip features a multicolored pattern similar to the D-45. Black inlays are also applied to the back.
—Fingerboard The ebony fingerboard features Mudra finger inlays as well as a Tai Chi symbol. The 20th fret features Andy Summers’ signature inlaid with mother-of-pearl.
—Bridge The pyramid bridge, crafted from ebony, is fitted with short saddles and black bridge pins.
ーNeck The slim-shaped mahogany neck offers comfortable playability for both chord work and solos. As a result, this is a guitar that excels not only in chord work but also in solo playing.
ーHead The sharp-looking headstock, featuring an Indian rosewood veneer, is wrapped in white and black celluloid and adorned with lotus flower inlays. It’s a luxurious design reminiscent of the torch inlays found on the 40-series models.
—Tuning Machines The tuners are Waverly open-back tuners Recruit. While modern in appearance, they still exude a sense of authenticity.
—Pickups This model comes standard with the FISHMAN Ellipse Blend System. Since it allows you to blend the under-saddle piezo and microphone, it truly shines not only in live performances but also in recording.
