Compared to the 17-inch SJ-200 and J-200, the J-185 debuted with a slightly smaller 16-inch body.
Only about 900 original J-185s were ever produced, making it a highly collectible model.
This instrument is a reissue of the 1950s J-185 specifications.

A large tortoiseshell-pattern pickguard is used.
The rosette is a double ring design.
The fingerboard is rosewood, beautifully accented with mother-of-pearl double parallelogram inlays.
The neck is made of one-piece mahogany and features a thinner neck profile.
The thinner neck provides a comfortable grip.
The rosewood upper belly bridge features a short saddle and is decorated with a Maltese cross inlay on the sides.
This specification also replicates the original J-185.
The small-sized headstock features Gibson's modern logo and crown inlay, enhancing its premium feel.
The bell-shaped truss rod cover is two-piece.
KLUSON no-line tuning pegs are used.
The gold body and marbled keystone pegs add a touch of luxury.

- No muffled tones or buzzing; plays well.

- Back bracing adhesive intact.
