Explanation
Gibson / 2002 60's J-45
[Demo Video]
A model that brings the characteristics of the 1960s into the modern era.
The top is made of Sitka spruce. Finished in a 3-tone sunburst color. The subtle fade gives it a sophisticated look.
The rosette adorning the soundhole features the double-ring design adopted in 1963.
The pickguard is the thick, large-sized version introduced in 1964. The color is a dark shade.
The sides and back are made of mahogany, and the dark walnut finish accented with white celluloid gives it a cool look.
The fingerboard is made of rosewood and features dot position markers in mother-of-pearl.
The rosewood bridge is fitted with a short saddle and white bridge pins. While adjustable saddles are typical of the 1960s, I believe this model uses a short saddle to suit modern playing styles.
The mahogany neck features a slim taper profile. This allows for comfortable playing. Additionally, the neck block is stamped with a serial number, just like on vintage models.
The slim-shaped headstock features Gibson’s gold modern logo. The bell-shaped truss rod cover is a one-piece design.
The tuning machines feature independent Kluson pegs. The white buttons visible from the front of the headstock add to the guitar’s stylish look.
[Comment by Hoshino]
This guitar faithfully reproduces the subtle details of the 1960s—such as the slim neck, thick large pickguard, and double-ring rosette—for today’s players. Its comfortable playability and crisp tone make playing a joy.
