Art Esparza is a master builder who joined Fender in 1987 and, until his departure in 2004 due to health reasons, crafted numerous memorable custom guitars.He is known for creating one-of-a-kind styles that stand apart from standard vintage reproductions, such as Buddy Guy’s iconic polka-dot Strat and Ernie Asley’s “ZEAL.” This Strat is deeply imbued with that same individuality and aesthetic.
This instrument is a special one-off built to order for Yamano Gakki, the distributor at the time. Equipped with Noiseless pickups, a two-point tremolo, a Wilkinson roller nut, and Sperzel locking tuners, it features practical specifications inspired by Jeff Beck’s setup. It’s a Stratocaster that lets you express yourself freely—from subtle nuances to intense whammy bar work—without being plagued by noise.
Furthermore, true to the master builder’s craft, the neck is crafted from maple with a dense bird’s-eye figure. The solid feel you experience the moment you grip it, combined with its striking visual presence, speaks volumes about why this guitar is truly “one of a kind.”
