Mr. Ishii is a master craftsman who runs his own workshop in Nagano Prefecture, meticulously engaging with every stage of the production process.
He was affiliated with the Chai Workshop in the 1970s before establishing his own business.
He designs and builds even the jigs and molds essential for guitar making himself, pouring passion into each and every instrument.
His creations, born from conversing with the wood and listening intently to the sound, are guitars that radiate the warmth of the hand—completely distinct from mass-produced instruments.
This time, we introduce a model in the smaller Recinto size, one size smaller than a standard classical guitar.
The No.48, with its 550mm scale, opens up new musical worlds through its Rekinto (A,D,G,C,E,A) and Alto (B,E,A,D,F♯,B) tunings.
The top is crafted from red cedar, while the sides and back feature rosewood.
The warm, characteristic tone of cedar is complemented by the rich mid-to-low frequencies of rosewood, achieving both beautiful clarity and a rounded tone.
It excels particularly in the projection of the higher strings, maintaining a soft, clear resonance without becoming overly bright, while retaining sufficient contour and clarity.
The sensation of sound rising the moment your fingertips touch the strings, gently melting into the space.
This delicacy and refinement is a miracle made possible precisely because it is a small guitar.
