"How can I maximize the vibration of an acoustic guitar's body?" Ovation's answer to that question was "Adamas."
Seeking durability and acoustic properties unattainable with a wood top, the guitar utilizes carbon fiber, a material originating from aerospace technology, for the top, encased in a unique fan-bracing structure and Lyracord body. The Super Adamas 1687 truly symbolizes that innovation.
The guitar we're introducing today is a 1978 Super Adamas 1687-7 Beige, an early model with the original specifications. This is a particularly rare example of an Adamas from a period when such watches still exist.
First, you'll be captivated by its appearance. The beauty of new buds shining in the spring sunlight. It's difficult to see from the image, but you can see the abundance of glitter, which is a characteristic of the early models.
Rather than being flashy, its majestic presence exudes an appeal that transcends the boundaries of a mere guitar, making it a true work of art.
And then, sound. Just lightly strumming a chord gives you the feeling that the space itself is gently lifted. The bass is deep and resonates throughout the body. The treble is delicate yet has a clear definition that reaches every corner of the space. A sound that seems to fill you from within. Those who touch this guitar for the first time will probably be surprised by its three-dimensional sound. Furthermore, the way it became clear differs from that of the later Supoer Adamas.
The secret to this sound lies in the top, which is made of layers of carbon graphite and birch wood. The extremely thin top plate, which is impossible to achieve with wood, allows the nuances of your picking to be directly translated into sound. At that time, many artists, including Kosetsu Minami and Chiharu Matsuyama, used Adamas guitars, creating a new trend in the guitar industry.
Please experience the atmosphere of the 1970s with your own hands.
