Martin / 1975 D-28
"Martin's Best-Selling Model"
The Martin D-28 was so popular during the folk song boom of the 1960s and 1970s that it quickly became the guitar of choice for artists such as Minami Kosetsu, Ishikawa Takahiko, and Ise Shozo, making it the object of many musicians’ dreams.
The Martin D-28 has undergone various specification changes over the years and continues to be played in many classic songs even today.
—Dreadnought Body
It goes without saying that Martin’s Dreadnought established the foundation of the folk guitar.
The tone produced by this spruce body combines power and richness; when you play this guitar, you’ll think, “That’s the sound of that song!”
The body features white binding and white/black line purfling, while the soundhole is adorned with a white/black rosette.

—Side/Back
Starting around 1970, the specification was changed to Indian rosewood.
This model also uses straight-grained Indian rosewood.
The center strip features a checkerboard pattern.
The body back features white binding, just like the top.

—Fingerboard
The ebony fingerboard features mother-of-pearl dot position markers.
A characteristic feature since 1947 is the larger dot size.

— Neck
The neck has a moderate thickness and a soft V-shape, providing a comfortable grip.

—Bridge
The ebony down-belly bridge is fitted with a short saddle.

—Tuning Machines
Equipped with Grover 102 tuners.
The smooth gears ensure comfortable tuning.
