Explanation
Martin / 1970 D-45
[Demo Video]
"Only 81 D-45s were produced."
From late 1969 to 1970, Brazilian rosewood, which had been used for the sides and back, was replaced with Indian rosewood due to the Washington Convention (CITES). In particular, only 81 D-45s were produced in 1970. Among them, a D-45 in such beautiful external condition as this one is extremely rare.
- Beautiful straight-grained Indian rosewood The sides and back are made of Indian rosewood, and despite being a transitional period for wood selection, the rosewood boasts a beautiful brown contrast and straight grain.RecruitI am doing it. This is also a special model called the D-45, which suggests that high-quality materials were selected for it. The sides and back are adorned with white celluloid and abalone shell. The intricate inlay work showcases the high level of skill of the craftsman.
- Back strip The multi-color options unique to the D-45Recruit。 The colorful lines beautifully stand out against the straight grain of the rosewood.
- Top The top is made of fine-grained, rare German spruce.RecruitIt is being done. The body is adorned with white celluloid and beautifully shimmering abalone shell purfling.
- Pickguard While a black pickguard is standard, this particular instrument has been fitted with a tortoiseshell-patterned pickguard. This material has a very atmospheric feel, as the wood grain and soundhole ring are visible through it.
- Soundhole In addition to white and black rings, the soundhole is adorned with a rosette made of abalone shell.
- Fingerboard The fretboard, adorned with white binding, is made of ebony.RecruitFurthermore, abalone shell hexagon inlays illuminate the jet-black fretboard.
- neck The mahogany neck, with its just-right thickness, is finished in a gentle V-shape. The volute processing, which maintains strength, has also been carefully applied.
-Bridge The ebony downbelly bridge is fitted with a short saddle. The white bridge pins have been replaced with ivoroid pins. The pin, with its distinctive and beautiful pattern, is adorned with abalone dots.
- Headstock As a remnant of previous years, the use of Brazilian rosewood veneer is a feature that can only be appreciated during this period. It was around this time that the head shape began to change from a rounded shape to a more angular shape.
- Vertical Logo The CF Martin logo, commonly known as the "vertical logo," features a thin "M" and a distinctive font for the "R." From 1970 onwards, M fonts began to feature bolder types.
- Tuning Machine It is equipped with a GROVER 102 engine with a patent stamp. The slotted screws on the knob side are also a characteristic feature of Grover products used in the 1970s. The tuning peg for the 4th string has been replaced with one that has a longer post (with a "PAT" stamp). Furthermore, the fact that the PAT markings on the 1st to 3rd strings and the 5th to 6th strings are on the inside, while the marking on the 4th string tuning peg is on the outside, confirms that it has been replaced.
[Comment from the person in charge: Hoshino]
This particular instrument features characteristics seen up to the 1970s, such as changes in wood specifications and logo font. Furthermore, despite its limited production run of only 81 units, this one is in exceptionally good condition for its age, making it a rare find and highly sought after by many. Don't miss out on this rare machine!
