Explanation
A vintage Bass that stands apart from modern Bass!
The original EB-1, born in 1953 as Gibson's first electric bass, was only briefly reissued from around 1969 to around 1972. Production during the reissue run was just over 400 units, making it a highly sought-after model.
While records show the reissued EB-1 shipped starting in 1970, this particular instrument is believed to be a 1969 model based on its serial number and pot date. It features a violin-shaped mahogany body, a set-neck construction mahogany neck, and a humbucker pickup mounted only in the front position.
Unlike Hofner's violinBass, this EB-1 boasts a solid mahogany body. While its visual impact is undeniable, its sound is characterized by a deep, earth-shaking low end, as if it were equipped with a subwoofer.
Unfortunately, the stand bar for upright playing is missing, but the original endpin is included.
The sound produced by its substantial 4.6kg body offers a tonal approach distinct from modern electric basses, delivering an intense low end unique to this instrument.
