When it comes to J-45 colors, sunburst is the standard, and the J-50 was offered as the natural version. However, from 1967 to 1969, models featuring special colors like Ebony Black and Cherry Red were released. The screw-on white pickguard is also a distinctive feature.
Due to their limited production numbers, these models are now collector's items. When it comes to the black J-45, it's also famous as the beloved guitar of musicians like Takuro Yoshida and Kazuyoshi Saito. While many reissue models have been popular in recent years, the genuine article is truly different.
The presence exuded by a vintage guitar that has endured half a century is truly exceptional. The patina of the finish and parts, the fine weather checking running through the lacquer, the sun-bleached binding... While it doesn't have the booming sound of 40s-50s guitars, it features a characteristically well-balanced, tight, and bright tone with a percussive sound accompanied by a rough attack. Its true strength lies in that so-called jangly, jangly strum. The neck grip features the narrow nut specification typical of the late 60s, with a nut width of approximately 40mm.
The down-bowed bridge and screw-on white pickguard without the Gibson logo match the specifications of the so-called "No. 1" model used by Kazuyoshi Saito immediately after his debut.
These have become quite rare in recent years, so please consider this opportunity.
