Epiphone / 1967 FT-120 Excellente
This particular unit was produced at the Kalamazoo factory and is one of the top-of-the-line models available from Epiphone. Despite being the top-of-the-line model, it remains a "hidden gem" known only to a select few, due to its extremely limited production run. Only 141 units were produced between 1963, when they were first made, and 1970.
The decorative elements throughout the design exude luxury and give it the feel of a top-of-the-line model. Let's take a look at the appeal of this item.
- A dynamic sculpture painted on the pickguard
The tortoiseshell pickguard, which is shaped to follow the contours of the body, features a dynamic carving of a large eagle perched on a branch, as well as carvings resembling fir tree cones, and the engraved lines are colored with white and yellow ink to create a sense of shading. Depending on the era, some individuals can be found to be entirely yellow in coloration.
The large, square-shouldered body is made of straight-grained spruce, and the weather checking adds to its sophisticated look.
The sides and back are made of quarter-sawn rosewood, showcasing its beautiful grain. The backstrip isRecruitWithout any markings, you can see the rosewood pattern across the entire back of the body.
The fretboard is made of ebony and features cloud inlays made of mother-of-pearl. The 15th fret is a square inlay. Another distinctive feature is the narrow neckline.
The neck has a slightly thick neck shape and is a 7-piece construction with mahogany sandwiched with walnut. A gold strap pin has been added to the neck heel.
The neck has been over-lacquered.
The bridge is made of ebony and features a unique design, fitted with a matte ceramic adjustable saddle.
Among Epiphone guitars, this one stands out with its large, prominent headstock, featuring the Epiphone logo and a large cloud inlay that seems to indicate it's a higher-end model. This cloud inlay is made up of three parts.
The tuning machines are equipped with gold KLUSON Sealfast tuners.
As a top-of-the-line model, its exquisite design and dignified appearance make it a standout instrument on stage. You're sure to be captivated by the dynamic and powerful sound.
