Epiphone / 1967 FT-120 Excellente
This instrument is one of the highest-end models produced by Epiphone, manufactured at the Kalamazoo factory.
Despite being a top-tier model, its status as a "hidden gem" stems from its extremely limited production run.
Only 141 were ever made between its initial production in 1963 and 1970.
The elaborate decorations throughout exude luxury and the presence befitting a flagship model.
Let's explore the charm of this piece.
- The dynamic sculpture on the pickguard

The large tortoiseshell-patterned pickguard, molded to follow the body's contours, features a dynamic sculpture of an eagle perched on a branch. Complementing this is a sculpture resembling a fir tree cone. The carvings are colored with white and yellow ink, applied in a grained finish to create a sense of shadow and depth.
Depending on the era, some examples are known to feature only yellow coloring.
The large square-shouldered body utilizes straight-grained spruce, with weather checking adding a subdued character.
The sides and back utilize straight-grained rosewood, showcasing beautiful figure.
No back strip is used, allowing the rosewood pattern to be seen across the entire back.

The fingerboard is ebony with mother-of-pearl cloud inlay.
The 15th fret features a square inlay.
The narrow neck is also a defining characteristic.

The neck features a slightly thicker profile and a 7P construction with walnut sandwiched between mahogany.
A gold strap pin has been added to the neck heel.

The neck has an over-lacquer finish.
The bridge is made of ebony with a unique design and features a matte ceramic adjustable saddle.

The headstock, particularly large and prominent even among Epiphones, features the Epiphone logo alongside a large cloud inlay, seemingly signifying a higher-end model.
This cloud inlay is composed of three combined parts.

Gold KLUSON Sealfast tuning machines are fitted.

Its premium decoration and commanding presence make it a standout instrument on stage.
Its dynamic, powerful sound is sure to captivate you.
