This instrument is an Epiphone model produced at the Kalamazoo factory as one of the brand’s top-of-the-line models. The reason it remains a “hidden gem” despite being a
top-tier model lies in its extremely limited production run.
From 1963, when production began, through 1970, only 141 units were ever made.

The ornate decorations throughout the instrument exude a sense of luxury and the prestige befitting a top-of-the-line model.
Let’s take a closer look at what makes this piece so special.

—Dynamic Carving on the Pickguard

The large tortoiseshell-patterned pickguard, shaped to follow the contours of the body, features a dynamic carving of a large eagle perched on a branch, as well as carvings resembling fir cones. These are colored with white and yellow ink in a line-carving technique, as if to express shading.
Depending on the era, some examples have been found with only a single shade of yellow.

The large, square-shouldered body is crafted from straight-grained spruce, with weather checking that enhances its understated charm.

The sides and back are crafted from straight-grained rosewood, displaying a beautiful figure. With no
backstrip, the rosewood pattern is visible across the entire back of the body.

The fingerboard is made of ebony and features cloud-shaped mother-of-pearl inlays.
The 15th fret features a square inlay.
Another distinctive feature is its narrow neck.

The neck has a slightly thicker profile and features a 7-piece construction with mahogany core sandwiched between walnut layers.
A gold strap pin has been added to the neck heel.

The neck has been finished with a clear lacquer.

The ebony bridge features a unique design and is fitted with a matte ceramic adjustable saddle.

The headstock, which stands out prominently even among Epiphone models, features not only the Epiphone logo but also a large cloud inlay—as if to signify a high-end model.
This cloud inlay is composed of three combined pieces.

The tuning machines are equipped with gold Kluson Sealfast pegs.

- There is a repaired crack on the curve of the right side of the body, but otherwise, the weather checking throughout the instrument enhances its dignified appearance.
- There is no muffled sound or buzzing, and it plays well.
- String action at the 12th fret: 2.3mm on the 6th string side, 2.0mm on the 1st string side. - String action can be adjusted up or down using the adjustable saddle
