The natural-colored Hummingbird
, which joined the lineup in 1963, features a cherry-colored side and back finish that creates a striking visual impression.
In 1965, the headstock angle was reduced from 17 degrees to 14 degrees, and the standard neck was replaced with a narrow neck—marking a series of significant changes.
This particular guitar reflects those specification changes and is likely one of the models produced during a period when the specifications had stabilized.

While 1965 Hummingbird models included a mix of regular-neck and narrow-neck versions, the transition to the narrow neck became widespread starting in 1966.
Although the difference is only about 2 mm, when you hold it, you can clearly feel the difference in neck width.
The top is finished in a natural color, and the weather checking enhances its vintage charm.
The pickguard, designed by then-Gibson designer Hartford Schneider, features a hummingbird sipping nectar from a flower while butterflies flutter around it.
The line art is colored with yellow ink.
The sides and back are made of mahogany and finished in cherry.
You can see the dense grain of the mahogany even through the finish.
The mahogany neck has a slightly thicker profile, making it easy to grip and comfortable to hold despite its narrow shape.
The rosewood upper belly and bridge are fitted with a ceramic adjustable bridge,
allowing for easy string action adjustment.
The headstock features Gibson’s modern logo as well as a crown inlay.
It is equipped with Kluson Deluxe 325VP tuning machines.
The gold hardware enhances its luxurious appearance.
In addition to being a natural-colored, narrow-neck model, this is a rare specimen with no cracks.
The bright yet powerful tone is the Hummingbird’s appeal. It is
also a guitar whose appearance—including the artistic pickguard design—is a delight to behold.

[Condition]
- While minor scratches and dents are visible in some places, the guitar has never been repaired for cracks and remains in excellent condition despite being nearly 60 years old.
- There is no muffled sound or buzzing, and it plays very well.
- String action at the 12th fret: 2.2 mm on the 6th string, 1.7 mm on the 1st string.
- The adjustable saddle allows you to raise or lower the string action.
