Gibson / 1964 J-45
"The J-45 is undergoing new specification changes."
Since its introduction in 1942, the J-45 has undergone numerous specification changes, allowing it to offer a wide range of expressions and tones.
1964 was also the year when further changes were made to the specifications related to the body's appearance.
- Year of change to thick pickguard
The top wood is spruce and finished in a cherry sunburst color.
Over time, it develops a soft orange color, giving it a gentle impression.
This cherry color was introduced in 1962 and was manufactured until 1967.

The sides and back are made of mahogany and finished in a vibrant cherry color.
You can appreciate the powerful grain that is characteristic of mahogany.

The fretboard is made of rosewood with a tight grain.
The white celluloid dot position markers stand out beautifully.
The nut width is approximately 42mm.

The neck is made of mahogany, and from 1960 onwards, the neck grip was changed to a slimmer shape.
If you're not comfortable with the thicker grips of the 1950s models, we especially recommend models from 1963 onwards.

The upper belly bridge is made of rosewood and has a matte ceramic adjustable bridge.RecruitIt is being done.
The matte finish on ceramic saddles was a specification change made around 1963.
Also, while some models from 1963 to 1964 had plastic bridges, this particular instrument has a wooden bridge.

The specifications changed from a small pickguard to a large pickguard in 1955, but further changes will be made this year.
Until 1963, large pickguards were approximately 0.5mm thick.RecruitIn contrast, from 1964 onwards, the pickguard was changed to one approximately 1.0 mm thick.
The pickguard is transparent with a marbled pattern, primarily in red.

The headstock features a Gibson silkscreen logo.
The head angle is 17 degrees.

The guitar is equipped with KLUSON DELUXE 3-in-line tuning pegs.

The rosette around the soundhole was changed to a double ring design starting in 1963.
Before 1963, it was a single line.
Even minor changes are important points when interpreting the time period.

This unit has no history of cracking and features a beautifully faded cherry color.
It's rare to come across one in such beautiful condition.
This is a rare example from the first year of the model's specification change to a thicker pickguard, so if you've been looking for one, please give it a try.
