1964 was also the year when the pickguard changed from a thin, brown tortoiseshell pattern to a thicker, more reddish one.
Furthermore, while many cherry-colored finishes have faded to an orange-like color, this unit retains a beautiful finish with a distinct reddish hue.
The tone is bright and crisp, yet it has that tight, well-defined sound that's characteristic of Gibson guitars.
