Gibson / 1962 J-45
"From Sunburst to Cherry Sunburst"
A new color appears for the J-45, which had been introduced in Sunburst.
Around 1960, the Cherry Sunburst color, featuring a reddish hue, appeared.
The vivid contrast between the cherry red and yellow not only symbolizes the era but also captivates both players and listeners.

—The Cherry Finish Reveals Many Faces
The round spruce body features a cherry burst finish: cherry along the body's contours, transitioning to yellow toward the center.
Unlike standard bursts, its vivid coloring is highly popular.

The sides and back feature tightly grained mahogany.
While sunburst finishes are typically natural, this model is finished in cherry.
You can see the mahogany grain peeking through the cherry finish.

The neck is made of mahogany, and by the 1960s, the specification changed to a slimmer shape.

The rosewood upper bout bridge features a ceramic adjustable saddle.
By the 1960s, the adjustable saddle, previously an option, became standard equipment.

The pickguard changed from a small pickguard to a large pickguard starting in 1955.
Sunburst models used a brown pickguard, while Cherry Sunburst models used a reddish pickguard to match the body color.

The headstock features Gibson's silk-screened logo, with the headstock angle set at 17 degrees.

It is equipped with white-button Kluson triple-locking tuners.
The stylish appearance complements the compact headstock.

This instrument is in very clean condition, with no major damage aside from crack repairs around the soundhole.
We also know many players seek out Cherry Sunburst models with a 43mm neck width.
This is because starting in 1965, the nut width changed to a narrower 39mm specification.
If you prefer a standard width (43mm) neck over a narrower one, be sure to check this out.
