In the 1950s, the American music scene was undergoing a major shift from folk to rock 'n' roll.
Amidst this movement, the J-45 also evolved, adopting a striking cherry sunburst finish around 1960, replacing the traditional sunburst.
The aging checkering appears more pronounced depending on the viewing angle, creating a shimmering effect reminiscent of sunset light reflecting off the ocean.
