Explanation
The Byrdland was introduced in the 1950s as Gibson’s flagship model. Based on the L-5, Gibson’s top-of-the-line full-acoustic model, it features a thin-body Thinline construction and a short scale length designed to deliver superior playability. Since its introduction in 1955, it has been celebrated as one of Gibson’s most iconic models.
It features a smart silhouette with a width of 17 inches and a depth of just 2 1/4 inches. The slim neck that feels like it’s glued to your hand and the 23 1/2-inch scale length provide a superb playing experience that has continued to captivate players across all genres, not just jazz. Another key feature is its design, which allows for a low string action, responding precisely to even the most delicate touch.
And the greatest appeal of this instrument lies in its original PAF pickups. The sound produced by this special 1959 model—rich in harmonics that blend together—offers a "perfect balance" of a solid tonal image combined with a softness that never grates on the ears. The moment you play a single note, you’ll feel the passion and craftsmanship of the artisans from over half a century ago in every single note.
With a tone that combines depth and sweetness, it boasts the ultimate compatibility for jazz, blues, and jazz-blues. This guitar reveals why masters like Eric Clapton, Ted Nugent, and David T. Walker loved it so much.
The essence of vintage Gibson is right here. A 1959 model equipped with the original Byrdland PAF. Its sound transcends time and continues to shine brightly today.
