Introduced as the upgraded model to the J-45, the Southern Jumbo features a 16-inch round-shoulder body, along with added inlays on the headstock and fingerboard.

The headstock bears the Gibson logo, but while the J-45 uses a gold silk-screen logo, the Southern Jumbo features a mother-of-pearl logo.
In addition to the logo, a crown inlay adorns the headstock.
The rosewood fingerboard features luxurious double parallelogram inlays instead of dot position markers.
This 16-inch round-shoulder model features a spruce top.
Finished in sunburst, the instrument showcases the character of years of playing, including scratches, minor dents, and weather checking, all contributing to a vintage-inspired aesthetic.
The dark-colored large pickguard is also characteristic of this era.
Mahogany is used for the sides and back, delivering Gibson's signature crisp resonance perfectly matched with brilliantly expansive highs.
A black back strip is featured.
The mahogany neck has a comfortably thick shape, offering a comfortable grip without feeling bulky.
A strap pin has been added to the neck heel.
The bridge is a rosewood upper bout bridge with short saddles.
KLUSON DELUXE double-line tuning pegs are installed.
The torque is tight, but this does not affect playability, so you can use it with confidence.

- While showing signs of use, including scratches, dents, and weather checking, this instrument remains in remarkably good condition for a nearly 70-year-old piece.
- The sound is clear with no muffling or buzzing, and it plays very well.
-String height at 12th fret: 6th string side 2.5mm, 1st string side 1.9mm
-Saddle relief: approx. 1.5mm to 3.0mm
-Repaired crack along the pickguard edge at the upper right and lower right of the soundhole.
-Pegs replaced with KLUSON Double Line tuners
-Piezo pickup installed under the saddle (non-control)
