Gibson / 1957 Southern Jumbo

Introduced as a higher-end model than the J-45, the Southern Jumbo features a 16-inch round-shouldered body, as well as inlays on the headstock and fingerboard.
—The Luster of Mother-of-Pearl
The headstock bears the Gibson modern logo; however, while the J-45 features a gold silkscreen logo, the Southern Jumbo features a mother-of-pearl version.
In addition to the logo, a crown-shaped inlay adorns the headstock.

The rosewood fingerboard features luxurious double parallelogram inlays instead of dot position marks.

This 16-inch round-shouldered model features a spruce top.
Finished in a sunburst color, it bears the scratches and fine dents that speak to years of play, while weather checking elevates its vintage character to the next level.

The dark-colored large pickguard is also characteristic of this era.

Mahogany is used for the sides and back, providing Gibson’s signature crisp tone and exquisitely complementing the bright, expansive high end.
A black line is featured on the back strip.

The mahogany neck has a shape with just the right thickness, providing a comfortable grip that doesn’t feel bulky.
A strap pin has been added to the neck heel.

The bridge is a rosewood Upper Berry bridge fitted with short saddles.

The tuning machines are KLUSON DELUXE double-line pegs. While the
torque is on the tight side, it does not interfere with playing, so you can use them with confidence.

With signs of careful use and weather checking, this instrument exudes the dignified presence and coolness characteristic of a vintage piece.
Please take this opportunity to try it out.
