A vintage J-200 in natural finish with a wild look
Gibson / 1957 J-200 A striking 1957 J-200N
with a
golden appearance and a dense, intricate checkered pattern. The finish on the entire body and neck has deepened in color,
offering a dignified presence that can only be achieved through the passage of time—
a stark contrast to the inherent elegance of the natural finish.
The sides and back of the body feature fine flame figures,
showcasing the unique character of maple.
The pickguard follows late-1950s specifications, featuring a simple design without a border.
The mustache bridge—a hallmark of the Super Jumbo’s opulence—is crafted from blackish rosewood, which pairs exquisitely with the aged body.
In contrast, the rosewood fingerboard has a slightly reddish hue; its dense grain is also superb.
The frets are original; by this period, slightly wider “large-size” frets were being used. The late-’50s neck offers a substantial
feel and serves as the cornerstone of the Vintage J-200’s powerful sound.Contrary to its
wild appearance, this guitar delivers a rich, well-balanced tone.
The richness of the low end and the sound’s breadth are quite similar to those of a 1950s J-200 Natural.
Even so, the high notes are distinct and crisp, which is truly wonderful. This is a superb specimen that allows you to experience the
ultimate vintage tone.
