Among J-45 models, there are two variations: slot saddle and adjustable saddle. This instrument is a 1957 J-45 featuring the slot saddle. Its powerful resonance, felt throughout the entire body, is one of this instrument's unique charms.
"Beautiful sunburst color with striking contrast between the body top and rim"
The spruce body is finished in a beautiful sunburst color, showcasing the contrast between black and brown. Compared to other guitars from the same era, this one has minimal fading on the rim, allowing you to clearly see the distinct gradation.
Single-line rosettes were used until around 1962.
Many associate the J-45 with its large tortoiseshell pickguard. The thin large pickguard was used until around 1963 (with some 1964 models also featuring it).
Mahogany is used for the sides and back, finished in a natural color to complement the top's coloring and convey mahogany's warmth.
The fingerboard is rosewood, showcasing the beautiful grain unique to this wood.
The bridge is made of rosewood. The mother-of-pearl dots decorating the bridge pin sides add a subtle touch of beauty.
The bridge plate is maple, but rosewood is used for the bridge pin hole repairs. This contributes to a deep, resonant sound.
The neck is crafted from thick mahogany. It offers a comfortable grip that doesn't feel awkward, perfectly matched with the 42.5mm nut width for comfortable playing.
The small-sized headstock features a simple design with Gibson's silk-screen logo printed on it.
The bell-shaped truss rod cover is made from one piece. A unique feature of this particular instrument is that the truss rod cover is mounted slightly higher compared to other 1957 models.
The tuning machines are Kluson Deluxe single-line triple-pegs. They are original and function reliably.
The J-45 with a slotted saddle is highly popular. This particular instrument not only boasts excellent cosmetic condition but also offers a rich, deep sound due to the thickness of its bridge plate (maple/rosewood).
