A large number of Gibson J-45s from 1940~1960's are analyzed. This is truly a new book of J-45 disassembly!

=============================================================
Gibson / 1956 J-45
Rare one with the invisible part switched.

The year '56 is the time when not only the pickguard but also the bracing of the internal structure was changed.
The J-45s prior to '56 had scalloped bracing and were characterized by a bright, expansive sound, but the specification was changed to non-scalloped bracing, resulting in a tight, powerful sound that is unique to the J-45.
The new design has a tight and powerful sound that is unique to the J-45.
The body top is made of spruce and finished in a coloring called "sunburst," which is a gradation of black/red/yellow paint.
It is characterized by the large amount of black paint that adorns the edges.

The sides/back are made of mahogany with a tight grain.
The natural color finish of the paint shows off the beautiful, evenly-grained wooden grain of the mahogany.

The fingerboard is made of rosewood with beautiful flowing grains.
The contrast of shades attracts the player.

The neck is made of mahogany, with a moderately thick neck shape that does not feel too thick and fits well in the hand.

A rosewood upper belly bridge with short saddles is used to give the entire body a crisp yet extended sound.

The pickguard specification has changed from a small pickguard to a large pickguard since 1955.

The headstock has the Gibson silkscreen logo and the head angle is set at 17 degrees.

The pegs are equipped with white button KLUSON triple pegs.
On the back of the neck, there are marks where screw holes were filled in before replacement.
Since the marks are larger than the bushings of the pegs, we can assume that the pegs were probably equipped with GROVER chromatic pegs.

This rare instrument, which switches to non-scalloped bracing, has a unique J-45 sound that will continue to be unique in the future.
It is in very clean condition with no major cracks or repairs except around the soundhole.
Models from the transitional period are rare and popular.
