This instrument has aged over 70 years and exudes an overwhelming presence.

Gibson’s flat-top guitars underwent various specification changes throughout the 1950s and 1960s—for example, the small pickguard from the early 1950s was replaced by a large one in 1955, and adjustable bridges began to be adopted in 1956.

Among these, the combination of scalloped X-bracing and a large pickguard is said to exist only in the 1955 model. With the unique raw power and rich tone that
this configuration offers, this is a guitar I highly recommend to anyone seeking a J-45 with a “one-of-a-kind, special tone.” I can already picture the moment when,

that way, I find myself envying those born in 1955—
simply because such a magnificent instrument was crafted in the very year they were born. Out of the
countless J-45s ever made, only 1,432 were produced in 1955.

While it retains a classic vintage appearance, the condition of the wood and its playability are exceptional.
This particular instrument has no cracks, the original inlaid pickguard is beautifully preserved, and there is no repair history in the surrounding areas. Seventy years after its
manufacture, the probability of finding a crack-free J-45—one of the 1,432 originally produced—with its original pickguard still intact is nothing short of a miracle.To begin with, there simply aren’t enough of these on the market to choose from, so being able to select one in this condition can only be considered a rare opportunity. It has likely been played in a variety of styles
