Explanation
Gibson / 1942 J-35
"A legendary aircraft with a longer history than the J-45"
The J-35 was introduced in 1936. The specifications, such as the round-shoulder body, 14-fret joint neck, rectangular bridge, and long saddle, were carried over to the J-45, which appeared in 1942. This particular unit dates back to 1942, the same year the J-45 was introduced.
-Specifications unique to the J-35
The head shape is not the typical curved shape you might see on stock guitars, but rather a distinctive head shape that bulges towards the top. Furthermore, the logo is also distinctive; the J-35 features a script logo drawn in white ink.
The top wood is spruce, and the rosette features a seven-layer multi-color finish. Additionally, the soundhole is located slightly below the end of the fretboard. The body color is finished in a natural color that first appeared around 1939.
The pickguard features the fire stripe pattern inherited from the Advance Jambo.RecruitIt is being done. Despite being over 80 years old, its unique luster remains intact.
The sides and back are made of mahogany. The body is finished in a light walnut color. It gives a warm impression, allowing you to clearly feel the grain of the mahogany.
The fretboard is made of rosewood and has dot position markers.RecruitIt is being done.
The mahogany neck has a thick C-shape, and combined with the 43.5mm nut width, it gives a solid and comfortable feel when you grip it. The powerful, expansive sound may be largely due to the influence of this neck.
There are signs that the neck has been reset in the past. This is done to achieve a comfortable playing feel with the correct neck angle, resulting in a highly playable instrument.
The rectangular bridge is made of rosewood.RecruitAnd, a long saddle is fitted. Although it has been repaired in places due to years of use, it is evident that it has been carefully maintained and used over time.
The tuning machines are KLUSON 3-in-line tuners with the PAT stamp.RecruitIt is being done. It exhibits remarkably stable operation for a pre-war model.
It's a minor detail, but there are six side ribbons (crack prevention) attached to the side panels inside the body (12 in total), and the material is made of cloth.RecruitIt is being done. Similarly, the 1941 SJ-200 uses the same material, but it has been confirmed that the material was changed to wood in the 1950s Gibson J-50. These tape-material side ribbons might also be a feature unique to pre-war models.

The reason why this instrument has been used in so many performances becomes clear when you examine it closely. This includes paint chipping on the neck, scratches from strumming, and dents on the body and headstock. The powerful, expansive sound you feel the moment you strum it makes you realize once again that this factor might be an important point.
[Comment from the person in charge: Hoshino]
The sound is incredibly powerful. It has a thick tone, yet it's crisp and sharp, making it a pleasure to play even when strumming. This is a guitar you'll want to keep playing forever.
