Gibson / 1936 Roy Smeck Radio Grande Conversion
"The signature model of Roy Smeck, known as the Magician of Strings"
Roy Smeck, a virtuoso who mastered various stringed instruments including banjo, mandolin, ukulele, and guitar.
The Radio Grande is a model featuring a square-shoulder body with a 12th-fret joint.
This instrument was produced for approximately five years between 1934 and 1939, embodying Roy's meticulous craftsmanship for playing Hawaiian, jazz, blues, and more.
—12F Joint Round Shoulder
The round-shouldered body, similar to the J-45, is crafted from spruce. Having endured nearly 90 years and countless performances, this instrument bears scratches, dents, and weather checking that lend it a distinguished, seasoned look.

The pickguard features a fire-stripe pattern.

The sides and back are crafted from beautiful straight-grained rosewood.

The fingerboard is rosewood with a nut width of 47mm.
Petal-shaped inlays adorn the fretboard.

The neck is made of mahogany and has a solid thickness.
However, despite the 47mm width, it doesn't feel difficult to play and offers comfortable playability.
It does not feature an adjustable truss rod.

The bridge is a rosewood rectangular bridge with short saddles.

The headstock bears the Gibson script logo in white ink, along with the names Roy Smeck and Radio Grande.
Weather checking and some paint peeling give it a rugged look.

It is equipped with GROVER open-back tuning machines.
Due to age, there is some resistance when tuning, but this does not affect playability.

This guitar is characterized by its crisp, lively sound when strummed, and the vibration emanating from the body is a unique charm of this instrument.
Please give it a try.
