"Yokoyama Guitars" was founded by Tadashi Yokoyama, who built a long career at "Morris."
This brand is particularly appealing for its founder’s role as a researcher who, even after many years in the industry, continues to pursue the perfect tonewood.
Today, we’re introducing the “AN-WC.”
It features an auditorium-sized body with a non-cutaway design—a specification that is perhaps a bit rare for Yokoyama.
The familiar specification features a white spruce top—which has acoustic properties similar to Adirondack spruce—paired with a camatilo back and sides.
While Camatilo is a familiar choice for Mr. Yokoyama, it is rarely used by other manufacturers due to the difficulty of working with the wood.
Tone-wise, it feels like a cross between rosewood and ebony, producing a slightly hard, well-defined bass response.
Rather than being suited for strumming chords with force, this instrument truly shines in solo guitar performances, as exemplified by artists like Isato Nakagawa and Toshi Komatsubara.
The number of Camatilo trees is decreasing year by year, and it seems even Yokoyama Guitars is finding it harder to source them.
It is in excellent condition with no noticeable major scratches. It comes with the original stylish hard case.

- String height at the 12th fret: 2.1mm on the 6th string side, 1.6mm on the 1st string side
- Saddle height: approx. 3mm–2.3mm
- The instrument plays well with no muffled tones or buzzing.
