S.Yairi / 1970s YD-304
A highly sought-after 1970s Japanese-made acoustic guitar from S.Yairi, which still boasts a large fan base and immense popularity today. This model features premium Brazilian rosewood for the sides and back.
The body top is spruce.
Its amber-hued finish and checking give it the vintage look of a Martin.
The playing marks tell a story of its history, not as flaws, but rather as evidence of an instrument that has woven its own history.
The body back is a three-piece construction of laminated rosewood and maple. A very luxurious combination by today's standards.
The body sides also feature laminated Brazilian rosewood, matching the back.
The fingerboard and bridge are ebony.
The YD-304 is known for being used by Yosui Inoue during his debut live performances.
Even today, many still hold it in high regard.
The neck features a steel truss rod, similar to 70s Martin guitars, rather than an adjustable rod design.
It features a slightly thicker, rounded shape reminiscent of Martin guitars from the same era.
This is a guitar crafted by Japanese artisans following this classic approach.
It offers the crisp, firm tone characteristic of Japanese-made instruments. Combined with its sturdy neck, it delivers appealing bass with body and bright, resonant highs.
The attack is crisp, and when strummed with a softer pick, it produces a wonderfully refined tone.
