Explanation
The SG3000 in Black Metallic!!
Based on the SG175 and incorporating feedback from numerous artists, the SG2000 was released in 1976 as the flagship model of Yamaha’s SG series at the time.
Then, in the 1980s, Yamaha set out to develop a new flagship model that embodied their vision. The result was the SG3000, released in 1982.
The SG3000 continued to feature the T-Cross one-piece neck found on the SG2000, and while its basic wood construction remained unchanged from previous SG models, there were new changes to the parts: the sustain block was eliminated, a newly developed narrow bridge was introduced, and the Spinnex pickup. The narrow bridge has a slimmer appearance compared to the conventional wide-travel bridge, and the distance between it and the tailpiece is narrower than on the SG2000, adopting specifications inherited from models like the SG175. The newly developed Spinnex pickup utilizes the Spinnex magnet—which Yamaha was the first in the world to successfully commercialize—and a nickel-silver Bass plate, allowing for delicate expression while enhancing high-frequency response. It also features the Bi-Sound system found on the SG1000, making it a model truly worthy of being the SG flagship.
It possesses a unique sound that retains the signature straight tone of the SG2000 while also offering a subtle Les Paul-like midrange presence!
