🔽Now is the time to take an in-depth look at the “ideal acoustic guitar” that Ovation sought to create!

Ovation / 1984 Super Adamas 1687-8
Today we’re featuring a 1984 Ovation Adamas I 1687-8, manufactured during a special era often referred to as Ovation’s “golden age.”
The key factor defining this model’s tone is its ultra-thin molded carbon-graphite top—a feature that current models simply cannot replicate.
However, what I’d like to highlight here is the speed and delicacy of the sound that emerges the moment the pick touches the strings—a clarity that’s as pure as the subtle vibrations of thin ice or high-quality glass.
And supporting those refined high frequencies is the deep bowl body—the hallmark of Ovation.
Although it’s an unamplified sound, a rich, deep resonance reminiscent of a grand piano’s low end resonates through your body, where delicate beauty and rich dynamics coexist seamlessly as a single sonic image.
The control section features a 2-way wooden knob—a testament to the craftsmanship of the era—and an early-model stereo FET preamp.
Although it’s a line output, this tone possesses a luster and powerful projection that surpasses even the acoustic sound, embodying the very legend that has been passed down through the generations.
Its appearance as a work of art also exudes the prestige of the very pinnacle of craftsmanship.
In contrast to the inorganic material of carbon graphite—born from aerospace technology—the headstock and bridge are adorned with intricate, hand-carved details, while the epaulets on the body top, crafted by layering multiple types of wood, add a touch of exquisite warmth.
The color is the undisputed all-time favorite: Reverse Blue Burst.
The coarse glitter effect from that era, shimmering deep within the indigo blue gradient, shifts its appearance in an almost enchanting way depending on the room’s lighting and the angle of the light, deeply satisfying the sense of ownership every time you look at it.
This particular instrument, which has just arrived, is in superb condition.
From the condition of the top and the beauty of the wood carvings to the operation of the FET preamp, it perfectly preserves the brilliance and sonic potential of its era.
